Departments Argue: Tower Approaches In Line With GDS Policy

The Cabinet Office has criticised public sector tower model usage but organisations stand by disaggregated ICT contract approach despite this criticism. 

The Government Digital Service (GDS) announced it will not “condone” technology transformation using the tower model, several Whitehall departments have maintained that their procurement plans are in line with Cabinet Office policy though.

The service tower operating model is used to describe the splitting of an organisation’s ICT into separate contracts, such as end user devices, networks, hosting, security and service integration and management (SIAM).
